WELL Labs is seeking a highly proficient Hydrologist/Hydrogeologist to serve as a Senior Manager in the Technical Consulting Team.

Position Overview

The Senior Manager would lead multiple hydrology related consulting projects with WELL Labs’ partners, including NGOs, donors, and governments. This is an exciting opportunity for impact oriented individuals to work in a dynamic work environment and contribute towards climate action.

Among other things, the Senior Manager would be responsible for creating strategic roadmaps for water resource sustainability for state governments. This would include leading a team in analysis of secondary and primary data on surface and groundwater to understand the availability of water resources. They would also support governments and other partners in improving their hydrologic data collection and management systems.

Location: Bengaluru/Delhi

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the government consulting program at WELL Labs and work with senior bureaucrats in the government.
  2. Manage multiple consulting projects with partners, ensuring timely delivery of project milestones and outcomes.
  3. Conduct hydrologic analysis including hydrologic modeling, water balance estimations, and water source sustainability assessments.
  4. Provide technical guidance and lead a team of hydrologists in data collection and analysis.
  5. Conduct literature reviews to develop an understanding of the frontier of science in specific issues and explore their applications for stakeholders.
  6. Relationship development with a diverse set of stakeholders including governments, NGOs, donors, and academics.
  7. Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  8. Represent WELL Labs in conferences, workshops, and other industry events to showcase project outcomes and foster partnerships.

Required Qualifications 

    1. Master’s degree in hydrogeology, hydrology, water resources or environmental engineering or any related field.
    2. Must have at least 5-7 years of related work experience, with either watershed management NGOs, governments or hydrology consulting organisation.
    3. Must have a good understanding of water resource modelling with experience in either surface water or groundwater modelling.
    4. Good communication skills with attention to detail and nuance.
    5. High degree of professionalism and integrity in managing stakeholder relationships and project execution.
    6. Ability to take ownership of tasks and lead teams.
    7. Willing to learn new techniques, a sincere interest in the field, and in making a difference in the world.
    8. Good knowledge of the academic literature on water resources modelling
