Project Manager – Agriculture Research & Implementation

We are seeking a motivated professional with strong grounding in agriculture systems, project management, and research documentation to join the Rural Futures programme. 

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated professional with strong grounding in agriculture systems, project management, and research documentation. The role involves managing field-based agricultural pilots, coordinating multi-partner projects, and translating learning into actionable insights and communication products. The position will contribute to WELL Labs’ ongoing work on sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture, water management, and rural transformation.

Job Location: Bengaluru/Field sites (Raichur, Chikkaballapur, and other project locations)

Type of Engagement: Full-time

Responsibilities

        1. Project Management
          • Plan, coordinate, and monitor agriculture-focused projects, ensuring timely delivery of outputs and outcomes.

          • Manage budgets, work plans, and partner deliverables in alignment with project objectives.

          • Facilitate coordination across field teams, research partners, and government or CSR collaborators.

          • Track progress through structured MEL systems and contribute to adaptive management.

        2. Technical & Research Support
          • Design and implement on-ground pilots related to climate-resilient agriculture, soil and water management, or crop diversification.

          • Support field studies, surveys, and data collection on crop performance, farmer practices, and input–output economics.

          • Contribute to development of frameworks, toolkits, and decision-support systems for sustainable agriculture.

          • Analyse field data and synthesise insights for technical reports and presentations.

        3. Documentation & Knowledge Management
          • Prepare project briefs, learning notes, case studies, and technical documentation.

          • Coordinate the development of high-quality proposals, donor reports, and communication materials.

          • Document field processes and farmer learning journeys for dissemination across platforms (policy, practice, and public).

          • Support publication of peer-reviewed or practice-oriented research outputs.

        4. Capacity Building & Stakeholder Engagement
          • Conduct farmer trainings, exposure visits, and workshops with implementing partners and Gram Panchayats.
          • Engage with local institutions, extension systems, and producer collectives to strengthen project ownership.
          • Support partnerships with academic, CSR, and government programmes on agriculture and livelihoods.

Qualifications & Experience

  1. Master’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Agronomy, Rural Management, Environmental Sciences, or related field.

  2. 5–8 years of relevant experience in managing field-based agricultural or livelihood projects.

  3. Demonstrated ability to link field implementation with research and policy.

  4. Strong writing and documentation skills (reports, policy briefs, and presentations).

  5. Familiarity with data-driven project management and use of digital tools (Excel, Kobo, Power BI, etc.).

  6. Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills for multi-stakeholder work environments.

  7. Fluency in English and working proficiency in Kannada/Telugu/Tamil (preferred).

  1. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

  2. Curiosity for field realities and comfort in semi-rural or rural contexts.

  3. Passion for sustainable agriculture, water management, and systems thinking.
