IRC focuses on producing rigorous, evidence-based research to answer questions posed by grassroots partners and government agencies. About the Role
The Programme Associate will be responsible for supporting the recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and performance tracking of India Research Scholars matched to open research questions from clients. The selected candidate will also contribute significantly to building scalable student-facing processes and workflows within IRC. This role is ideal for an organised, proactive individual who thrives in collaborative environments and is committed to facilitating the interaction of academia and praxis, and cares deeply about academic excellence and community impact.
Responsibilities
- Student Engagement & Coordination
- Serve as the primary point of contact for student researchers throughout the IRC programme.
- Facilitate screening, onboarding, engagement & performance tracking for all scholars joining IRC.
- Maintain and manage student work.
- Programme Support
- Assist in scheduling meetings, workshops, and research discussions.
- Track student deliverables, milestones, and research progress.
- Provide timely reminders, feedback channels, and support resources to students.
- Assist the Programme Associate in creating and scaling student workflows
- Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate programme updates, deadlines, feedback and via email, Google Meet and other platforms.
- Liaise with Programme Associate, IRC clients, faculty advisors, and WELL Labs team members to monitor progress and research output quality.
- Help plan and moderate online forums, discussion groups, and virtual/in-person events
- Administrative & Reporting
- Prepare weekly & monthly summaries on student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Support documentation of programme insights and improvement suggestions.
- Developing tools (e.g., spreadsheets, dashboards) to improve coordination workflows.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- At least 1-2 years’ of demonstrable experience in academia or action research-related fields (as a Research Associate or a similar role.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive), Zoom/MS Teams.
- Familiarity with research workflows, surveys, and project documentation.
- Basic understanding of data organisation and reporting.
- Detail-oriented and proactive approach to work, ability to manage multiple tasks and parallel workflows with tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication & strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Attributes

Prior demonstrable experience in research assistance, academic coordination, or student leadership.

Basic skills for building and operating digital assets on WordPress, Airtable and similar platforms.

Comfortable working with diverse student groups, working professionals, and civil society organisations.

Interest in building processes and workflows that can be scaled.
