We are seeking a Research Associate who will support the implementation of Water Accounting Plus (WA+) across multiple river basins. 

Position Overview

The Research Associate will support the implementation of Water Accounting Plus (WA+) across multiple river basins. The role is highly technical, involving debugging and running Python-based workflows, generating water balances, and documenting processes for integration into government systems and wider adoption.

Job Location: Bengaluru (Hybrid) 

Type of Engagement: Full-time

Responsibilities

  1. Debug, refine, and implement Python-based workflows for Water Accounting Plus (WA+) assessments.
  2. Execute WA+ analyses for multiple river basins and generate corresponding water balance outputs.
  3. Process, manage, and validate the hydrological and remote-sensing datasets required for WA+.
  4. Document comprehensive workflows, including data pipelines, scripts, assumptions, and outputs, to ensure reproducibility and scalability.
  5. Support engagement with government stakeholders, including the Advanced Centre for Integrated Water Resources Management (ACIWRM), by translating technical outputs into user-friendly formats.
  6. Assist in integrating WA+ outputs into the workflows of the Water Resources Department.
  7. Contribute to enhancing the automation, efficiency, and reliability of analysis pipelines.

Qualifications & Skills

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in hydrology, water resources, environmental engineering, geoinformatics, or related fields.
  2. Proficiency in Python for data processing, debugging, and scripting.
  3. Familiarity with hydrological analysis, water accounting, or geospatial datasets.
  4. Experience with remote sensing data and tools, such as GIS platforms and Earth observation datasets is preferred.
  5. Strong documentation and problem-solving skills are essential.

Preferred Experience

  1. Exposure to Water Accounting Plus (WA+) or similar frameworks.

  2. Experience working on river basin or hydrological analysis/modeling and water balance studies.

  3. Prior engagement with government or applied research projects.
