Dr. Devaraj de Condappa holds a PhD in Hydrology from the University Joseph Fourier, France, and has been active in the field since 2001. His expertise spans Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM), water resource planning and allocation, hydrology, climate change adaptation (including ecosystem-based approaches), and nexus studies, alongside training and capacity-building initiatives. He possesses advanced water resource management modeling skills (e.g., WEAP, SWAT) and proficiency in hydro-economics, GIS, and context and scenario analysis.
He brings scientific expertise in surface water (hydrology), groundwater (hydrogeology), and climate change scenarios (e.g., IPCC reports, ensemble analysis). Dr. de Condappa has contributed to numerous IWRM planning projects, adopting a holistic approach to surface and groundwater resources while addressing the needs of multiple water sectors, including agriculture, water supply, wastewater management, environmental flow, watershed management, and flood mitigation. His work includes co-developing IWRM and river basin investment plans in close collaboration with stakeholders and preparing funding proposals for transboundary water management and climate adaptation projects.
He has worked with leading funding agencies such as Asian Development Bank, United Nations Development Programme, Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, KfW, World Bank, and AFD. His extensive geographical experience spans over 20 countries across Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe. Currently associated with FutureWater, he is fluent in French and based in South India.
