Technical Consulting and Applied Research

WELL Labs seeks skilled and motivated research personnel to join the Sustainable Transition Explorations in Water and Agriculture for Resilient Dryland Systems (STEWARDS) project. The project is driven by research for impact philosophy, engaging with local communities and government stakeholders to develop and implement solutions for sustainable water management in rural and urban districts in Karnataka. The work offers opportunities to bridge the science-policy space, and to collaborate with international researchers working on climate change adaptation with a focus on water use.

Responsibilities

  1. Establish working relationships with stakeholders in the study area including influential and marginalised people, and government and civil society stakeholders
  2. Execute the inception and development of research for impact using the transformation labs methodology and toolkit
  3. Mentor junior researchers and oversee data collection and quality assurance on social and natural variables throughout project life cycle
  4. Develop mind maps, narratives, scenarios, and other innovative outputs derived from qualitative and quantitative data through iterative processes
  5. Contribute to reports, media coverage, scientific manuscripts, policy briefs, and any other outputs arising from the project

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Masters in social sciences such as development studies, economics, policy and governance, social work
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience working with local and government stakeholders
  3. Strong qualitative and quantitative skills including design thinking and statistical analysis
  4. Interest and ability to mentor junior researchers and stakeholders in data collection, monitoring, and evaluation
  5. Knowledge of Kannada is desirable

Compensation: Remuneration will depend on skills and experience.
