Women farmers in Raichur contend with unpredictable rainfall, labour-intensive sowing, and a stark lack of mechanisation. This vivid photo essay brings you to the heart of Karnataka’s semi-arid landscapes—chilli plots in Devadurga, paddy plains in BR Gunda, and cotton tracts in Mandalgudda—capturing the daily realities of agricultural work carried out almost entirely by hand.

Across each frame, the gendered division of labour is laid bare: from transplanting seedlings in waterlogged fields to harvesting and sun-drying grains, these women shoulder immense physical strain with minimal technological support.
